Location & Geology: South Plaza Island is a small, flat islet of 0.12 km², located east of Santa Cruz. It was formed by the uplift of submarine lava, with cliffs to the south and plains to the north. .
Characteristic vegetation: covered by opuntia cacti and sesuvium plants that change color with the seasons, from green to orange and purple.
Access restrictions: North Plaza is for research only; South Plaza is the only islet where disembarking and walking are permitted, which we do with the utmost respect.
